Arunachal to impart Japanese language as new skill to youth

Itanagar, Jan 18 (IANS) The Arunachal Pradesh government would impart Japanese language as a new skill for the youth and the matter along with other possible mutual cooperation were discussed between the Ambassador of Japan in India, Satoshi Suzuki and Chief Minister and Governor of the state on Tuesday.

Officials here said that Governor Brig (Dr) B.D. Mishra (Retd) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday discussed various matters with the Japanese Ambassador through virtual mode.

Highlighting the tourism potential, especially the religious tourism, the Governor suggested mutual cooperation on the tourism sector. "The two countries can share the scientific know-how to mitigate natural calamities, as Arunachal Pradesh lies in the high risk seismic zone," Brig Mishra said, and also suggested exploring for collaboration in hydropower and non-conventional energy sources.

"A great opportunity today to have attended a virtual meeting with His Excellency, the Ambassador of Japan Satoshi Suzuki along with Hon'ble Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra Ji (Retd). Emphasised on Japanese language to be imparted as a new skill for youths of Arunachal. Khandu highlighted the vast scope of interface between Arunachal Pradesh and Japan for the people-to-people contact and to undertake various joint ventures," Khandu tweeted.

The Governor and Chief Minister invited Suzuki to visit Arunachal Pradesh, where the world famous Tawang Monastery, and the monastery in Namsai situated.

Located at a height of 3,400 metres, Tawang Monastery is the second biggest and oldest in Asia and a popular tourist attraction.
