Maulana Abul Kalam Azad passed away in New Delhi, India. He was a great leader, great orator, revolutionary and fighter for national freedom. Some of his works which are the masterpieces of the Urdu language are ""Ghubari-Khatir"" and Tadhkirah"". He was Minister of Education in the first Indian Government.

10/16/1983	Harish Chandra, great Indian scientist, died. His work in a narrow branch of modern mathematics led to its developement to such an extent that it drew the attention of mathematicians all over the world.
8/15/1947	Brigadier Thakur Mahadeo Singh was the first Indian Commandant. He was the DSO of Indian Militery Academy.
3/24/1987	First developmental launch of new generation rocket ASLV 'Stretched Rohini Satellite Series' (SROSS-1). This carried payload for launch vehicle performance monitoring and for gamma ray astronomy. This plunged within two minutes and 40 seconds of its launching.
3/15/1901	Guru Hanuman was born at Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. He was the pioneer and contributor of wrestling in India. He was bestowed with the Padamshri in 1983. His pupil Satpal and Kartar Singh won Gold Medals in Asian Games.
3/15/1908	Police shoot four people in rioting.
