Historical Event on 3/17/1999
An international seminar on UN Peacekeeping was co-jointly hosted by Ministry of External affairs and Ministry of Defence at New Delhi from 17 to 19 March 1999. The seminar was conducted by HQ Army Training Command, Shimla on behalf of the Indian Army. A total of 126 foreign delegates from 71 countries participated in the seminar.

8/7/1982 | Krishnakanta Radhakant Handique, linguist, educationist, Sanskrit scholar, principal of J.B. College and Padma Bhushan awardee, passed away. He also authored the learned works 'Naisadhacarita', 'Yasastilaka and Indian Culture' etc. His original treatise written in Sanskrit by Somaveda in the 10th century is an encyclopedic work dealing with Jainism and Indian thoughts and culture. |
