12/4/1894Swami Brahmanand was born at Hamirpur district in UP. He joined freedom movement and participated in Salt Satyagraha, Non Cooperation Movement and Quit India Movement. He also established Brahmanand Inter College (1938), Brahmanand Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya (1943) and Brahmanand Mahavidyalaya (1960).
7/15/1783Sir Jamsetjee Jeejeebhoy, great Indian Merchant, Industrialist and philanthrophist, was born in Bombay. He aided famine relief, financed public works like wells, roads, causeways and bridges; founded dispensaries and hospitals; established educational institutions and scholarship funds; etc. He was receipent of a Knighthood and many medals.
3/28/1954The flight undertook its first VVIP commitment, when it carried the first Prime Minister of India, the Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, from Palam to Tilpat range and back to witness the 'Fire Power Demo'. It carried wide spectrum of VVIPs, including the President, the Prime Minister, renowned statesmen, Generals, Luminaries and visiting foreign dignitaries.
