3/12/1930	Mahatma Gandhi started Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram near Ahmedabad to break salt law. This march stretched of 375 km. was covered in 26 days with 78 followers. The whole of India joined the campaign to boycott foreign goods and refused to pay taxes. Khan Abdul Ghafar Khan or Frontier Gandhi started Khudai Kidmatgar movement in the North-West Frontier. The Government went back to its brutal force and about 90,000 people were imprisoned within a year. In Peshawar, the Gharwal regiment refused to shoot a demonstrator. In Nagaland Rani Gaidilita, a 13 year old girl raised the flag against the Britishers and was put into life imprisonment in 1932. Nehru hearing this uttered A day will come when India will remember her and Cherish her. She was released after Independence.
6/10/1997	18 persons were killed and 10 wounded by suspected National Liberation Front of Tripura militants at Thalchhara near Agartala.
9/7/1995	Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh CM, wins the vote of confidence. He received 227 votes. 31 were neutral.
5/26/1931	One hundred miners were trapped beneath a blazing mine. It was thought that there were unlikely to be any survivors in Madras.
7/18/1946	U.K. Parliament approves British Cabinet mission report on India but Churchill says that the mission went too far in offering India independence outside of the Commonwealth.
12/22/1939	When Britain declared war against the Germans it appealed for help from all political parties. Congress put up some conditions which in other words were the immediate transfer of power. The Viceroy promised to give due consideration to the suggestions of each party and that the dominion status would be given after the war. Congress in order to pressurize the Govt. boycotted all ministries and started a civil disobedience movement and eventually resigned. Jinnah declared 22nd Dec 1939 as ""Day of Deliveranc
1/18/1930	Gurudev Rabindranath Thakur (Tagore) and Mahatma Gandhi met at Sabarmati Ashram.
11/19/1961	World Council of Churches convened their third assembly at New Delhi during which the International Missionary Council and its work was integrated into the larger ecumenical group.
