Shri Krishna Janmashtami is less than a week away, so what better way to celebrate than to enjoy a lovely evening of arts, culture, and a free vegetarian meal? The Vedic Center (ISKCON Portland) encourages everyone to come to this wonderful event! Here is the general synopsis of the event:
Sri Krishna Janmashtami - Grand Celebrations with Go-puja - Thu, Aug 9th - 6:30pm to past Midnight
This is the most auspicious festival of the whole year and as usual, it will be celebrated at a grand scale. The special attraction of this year is that for the first time, we shall be having Mother Cow visiting us on that day. Cows are the very foundation of Vedic society and are very dear to Lord Krishna. Individuals will have a chance to do/observe 'Go-puja' as part of the festival celebrations. We shall also have booths for face paints, craft activity for kids, presentations on Vedic culture, and a complete bookstore and gift shop. Devotees can swing the Lord (perform Jhulan) throughout the evening.
Schedule: 6:30pm - 7:30pm - Abhishek of Radha Krishna Deities 7:30pm - 8:00pm - Go puja (worship of Mother Cow- devotees can do parikrama, offer hay) 8:00pm - 9:00pm - Cultural program 9:00pm - Prasadam 9:00pm - Midnight - Non-stop Kirtan Midnight - Maha aarti
